There's nothing like having your own wheels to explore at your own pace. You can please yourself about where to go and what to see. We'll arrange the car-hire and help you plan an itinerary combining nuggets of historical and cultural interest with the contrasts of the beautiful North African countryside. We'll also book your hotels and prime you with all the information you need. Just call us to discuss your preferences.
The options
Your theme could be classical Tunisia – touring some well-known archaeological remains like Dougga, Sbeitla and El Jem, but also discovering fascinating less-explored sites such as Oudna, Bulla Regia and Haidra, museums in Tunis and elsewhere. Or you could take a trip south and see the beauty of the desert that attracted the makers of films like Star Wars and The English Patient.
The roads
In a word, excellent. Tarmac-ed and in good condition even across the salt lake of Chott el Jerid. Only the final approach to the dune desert is unmade road and for this we would arrange a fourwheel- drive plus driver (see below).
The cars
We use Hertz self-drive cars and Nomades’ four-wheel drive chauffeur-driven vehicles for off-the-road terrain. Cars are delivered to your hotel. The car group can be guaranteed, but not the make.
